I am Stunned and dismayed that 1) I didn't think of this:
The Million Dollar Homepage - Own a piece of internet history! and 2) that the lucky bastard has made $289,000 off of it so far.
Anyone wanna help me do a similar site? I have an idea for it already.

K.A.O.S.
Don Adams once confessed to hating Get Smart. He was about the only one.
The former standup comic who donned a trench coat, launched a catch phrase ("Would you believe...?") and won three Emmys as blundering, yet self-assured spy Maxwell Smart on the 1960s TV comedy died late Sunday of a lung infection. He was 82.
"Get Smart" Star Adams Dies - Yahoo! News
Growing up, I'm not sure there was a show I looked forward to seeming more than get smart. I loved this show. Devoured every minute of it. Tennesee Tuxido, Maxwell Smart, Inspector Gadget. We will miss you.
99: Oh, Max
what a terrible weapon of destruction.
Smart: Yes.
You know, China, Russia, and France should outlaw all nuclear
weapons. We should insist upon it.
99: What
if they don't, Max?
Smart: Then
we may have to blast them. That's the only way to keep peace in
the world.

Sep 13, 2005, Police in northern Ohio on Monday rescued eight children whose parents told authorities they kept the kids in locked cages for their own protection.
The children, ages 1 to 14, were found locked in cages at their home in Wakeman, about 40 miles southwest of Cleveland, according to Lt. Randy Sommers of the Huron County Sheriff's Office.
The children were all either adopted or foster children, he said.
Authorities said the kids were kept in wooden cages, less than 3 feet by 3 feet, without pillows or blankets.
Shortly after being found, the children were sent to Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, where they were listed in good condition.
The children's parents, Mike and Sharon Gravelle, had 11 children in all, according to authorities.
Police said no charges had been filed against the parents.
"Basically, the parents thought they were providing for the protection of the children from themselves and from each other," said Sommers.
"They thought there was circumstances with these children that warranted the cages at night," Sommers added, but he would not go into details of what those circumstances were.
All 11 of the children found in the home have been placed in the custody of the Huron County Department of Children and Families.
No charges have been filed?!?!?!!? WTF? Lock those prarents in a 3x3 cell while you figure out how many crimes you can charge them with. Yanno, for their own protection against the MOB that want's to harm them severly. -Jason

Cheryl and I have been in stunned silence since last Monday. I have tried many times to express how I feel; I just haven't found the words. Every time I try to form one thought about it, 10 more rush in. Some of them feel so tremendously selfish I chase them away. Some of them are so angry they scare me.
Life does go on. Aiden helps keep a lot of that in perspective (This week he has mastered Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, and Purple both as words and concepts. He can say all but purple, and his pronunciation of yellow makes me smile every time. I'm told that is unusual for a 18 month old.
Last fall Cheryl and Aiden were out of town and Aiden got Very sick. The E.R. Scared him (shit it scares me). One of the doctors handed him a cheesy stuffed bear with features hand drawn on it. Aiden clung to that little bear the whole time he was there. He still loves that bear, and I am very thankful to the volunteers who made it, and gave it to the hospital for them to give to Aiden. Cheryl had the wonderful idea that this might help other kids as well.
There are over a thousand evacuees here locally. They arrived Monday evening. Tuesday I took a long lunch, went to Toys R Us. Worked out a modest discount with the manager and bought 2 armloads of stuffed animals (Bears mostly, some cats) and brought them to the drop off point for the local evacuees. I realize Stuffed animals aren't going to save the world, but it may give a child something to hold on to and make them feal just a little more secure.

FedExFurniture.
Its not just boxes!
FedexFurniture.Com
This guy found himself without furniture and too many FedEx boxes. So, what does he do? Same as the rest of us might do if we had a degree in design, he built all the furniture.. Out of FedEx boxes. And just like we'd all do if we were proud of building something, he created a website. Now FedEx wants to shut him down. The tried to use the DCMA (Digital Copy write Millennium Act - Which prohibits trying to circumvent digital copy protection... I'm not sure what that has to do with Boxes and Furniture) to shut his site down.
I understand they have a trademark they need to protect. But there has to be a better way for them to do it.

JustBlogIt with a simple right-click.
Alright, I found a cool website (that will be in the next entry) that I wanted to blog about. But I hadn't gotten around to installing a Firefox extension to facilitate easily blogging about a website (and I certainly don't want this to turn into a website of the day type blog). So I went hunting around. For anyone running Firefox (And if your not why not?), who blogs, "justBlogIt" is very handy. Right click on the page you want to blog about, and it brings up your blog editor for what ever blogging system you use (LiveJournal, moveable type, blogger, etc) and even allows setting up for blog software it doesn't know about (Like Serendipty which I use on i40.com).
It also allows you to store 4 different blog profiles, so you can choose which blog you want to post in. (Although can't use it to post to more than one blog at a time, luckily serendipity handles that for me).
Next Post. Corporate America tries to squash the little guy.

The Six String cafe (the best place to see local/regional musicians in the triangle) in cary, North Carolina, is closing it's doors at the end of the month after 4 years.
We used to go to the six string often (especially after the Hyphen closed) at least twice a month, sometimes weekly. Our food/beverage tab was usually under $15 (That’s on top of the Cover, and the CDs we'd almost always buy) and only do dinner there when we were running late (8pm shows and mediocre overpriced sandwiches aren't a great recipe for pulling in the dinner crowd), which may be why we never felt welcome there (I don't ever remember the staff smiling, or thanking us for coming out, or maybe other venues spoiled us).
The music however was top notch. From Kid Sister/ Wall of Jules to Sam Anderson/ Lindsay Smith to what was almost a private Sean Smith show.
Even open mic nights ranged from tolerable to excellent.
Admittedly, we've only been to two shows there since Aiden was born (both were Kid Sister shows, and packed) but I will miss the music.

Many of you may not know my father lives on a sailboat. Sure he has tivo, laptops, GPS, GPRS Modem, DSL and cable (the later 2 only when not under sail) but a sailboat none the less. If I had been paying attention when he had been going on and on about his boat I could tell you how big it was. I do know it was made by 'Dufor'. He is setting sail today on his annual vacation (I didn't realize people who lived on boats, needed a vacation) sailing from New Rochelle, NY to Newport, RI (Rhode Island, for those of you who's maps aren't printed in wall sized, is the tiny little state robbing both Connecticut and MA from some valuable shore line.) Originally he was planning on soloing part of this 4 day journey, and having seen too many episodes of Gillian’s Island, Survivor (Richard Hatch is from RI, and we all know how messy THAT could get, and LOST) I decided it was a good excuse to mess around with Google Maps. I created an email gateway that allows him to email latitude and longitude (from his GPS) to a certain email address which captures his position, and adds a data point to a scrolling (Thanks to Google) updating (thanks to me) map. From a technical standpoint this may appeal to some of you, from a 'where is my dad' standpoint, it will appeal to even fewer of you. You can see the fruits of my labor at WheresDad or for people with Internet Explorer WheresDad For IE (I couldn't get some of the graphics working in IE).

Popular Science's (Yes the people with the geeky magazine)website has an article on streaming music across the internet. MP3Mystic is the first product mentioned! Perhaps it's coincidence but I actually did work on Mp3Mystic last night, and am planning on releasing a brand spanking new version soon (with hooks for the Wimpy MP3 player integration. Hopefully I will squash some outstanding bugs at the same time. It's not the first time mp3mystic has been picked up by the press (I have a print magazine with a review of it from last year), but it's always nice to get some free advertising. I don't know when the article went up (it is the most recent article in their How 2.0 section) but I have noticed the increase traffic. Cheryl and Aiden met me for lunch today. That always makes my day better! -Jason
